Common Australian job ad requirements explained
Work rights
Keep the employer’s wording separate from your own visa conditions. Home Affairs’ VEVO guidance explains how visa holders and employers can check current conditions.
Checks
Follow the employer’s instructions for the named check. For example, NSW requires a Working with Children Check for child-related work; the relevant jurisdiction matters.
Licences and registrations
The White Card is a general construction induction card. For any other ticket or registration, confirm the exact credential named in the ad before describing yourself as qualified.
Employment and location
A location phrase is a starting point for a question. Confirm attendance, hours and any location restrictions in the actual offer or with the recruiter.
Salary and application documents
Read the amount as written, including the super or package basis. Follow the requested documents and limits. The Australian job application glossary explains the terms, and the selection-criteria guide shows how to prepare a response.
Questions about the job ad checker
Is my ad text stored?
Checking runs in your browser, with no upload or saved copy. If you choose “Analyse this ad with AI and tailor your resume”, the ad is temporarily kept in this tab for the existing product form. The form removes it when read; the hand-off expires after 30 minutes.
What does “full working rights” mean?
Treat it as wording to clarify with the employer, not a visa assessment. Check your current visa conditions through Home Affairs’ VEVO service and ask whether those conditions meet this job’s requirements.
Does this replace reading the ad?
No. The checker highlights phrases and their surrounding sentences. Read the original ad, including exceptions, preferences, attachments and application instructions.
Why are some requirements missed?
The rules look for listed phrases. Unusual wording, abbreviations, negation or complex clauses may be missed or interpreted imperfectly. A missing flag does not prove that a requirement is absent.
